Telomerase Activation & Circadian Support
Epithalon in nasal spray format is a research peptide designed for convenient intranasal administration. It mimics the pineal-derived peptide Epithalamin and is studied for its effects on telomerase activation, biological aging, and circadian rhythm regulation.
History & Development
Originally developed by Professor Vladimir Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation, Epithalon was formulated to restore pineal function and improve longevity markers. Nasal delivery is an increasingly explored route due to its potential to bypass the blood-brain barrier and enhance CNS bioavailability.
Potential Benefits & Mechanism of Action
- Telomerase Activation: Promotes telomere extension and chromosomal stability.
- Circadian Rhythm Regulation: Enhances melatonin release and sleep-wake cycles.
- Anti-Aging Effects: May reduce cellular senescence and oxidative stress.
- Neuroendocrine Support: Modulates pineal gland activity and endocrine function.
Nasal administration of Epithalon is believed to provide faster CNS access and support the hypothalamic-pituitary-pineal axis more directly than systemic injection.
Research & Clinical Studies
Human and animal studies from Russia have shown that Epithalon improves biological markers of aging, extends lifespan in rodents, and regulates melatonin levels. Though nasal formats are newer, pharmacokinetic models suggest effective CNS
uptake is achievable.
